History of the Department
The Department of World Literature was established in 2007 within the Faculty of Russian Language and Literature. Currently, the department is headed by Assoc. Prof. FarzonaAsomudinovnaSobirova.
The department brings together both experienced and young qualified teachers. Among them are Associate Professor Farzona Asomudinovna Sobirova, Associate Professor Robiya Dodovna Rakhimova, Senior Lecturer Olmakhon Akramovna Khasanova, and Assistant DilraboOdilkhodja.

The Department of World Literature trains specialists in Russian language and literature. Faculty members deliver courses in the following disciplines:

Teaching and Methodological Activities
The department operates a School of Young Teachers, led by Assoc. Prof. R.D. Rakhimova, which provides methodological assistance to young lecturers.
Scientific and Methodological Council (SMC)
Regular methodological seminars and council meetings are held at the department. These are supervised by Assoc. Prof. F.A. Sobirova. Monthly seminars address topical issues of teaching methodology and familiarize staff with the latest scholarly literature in pedagogy, linguistics, and methods of teaching Russian literature.
Student Scientific Society (SSS)
The department also hosts a Student Scientific Society, working in two directions: “Translator” (headed by Assoc. Prof. F.A. Sobirova) and “Philologist” (headed by Assoc. Prof. R.D. Rakhimova). At SSS sessions, students acquire research skills: selecting literature, making notes, references, and excerpts, comparing different scholarly views, and performing philological analysis of literary works.
Student Clubs
The department places great emphasis on student research activities. Main directions include:
Holding research workshops on issues of 19th–21st century prose,
Organizing student–faculty meetings to discuss problems of poetics.
The “Young Writer” club also functions at the department (supervised by Assistant D. Odilkhodja). Member MavlyudaAtadzhanova participated in the national competition “FurugiSubhiDonoi – KitobAst”, where she won second place under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. R.D. Rakhimova. Members of the club are actively engaged in various faculty and inter-university events and competitions.
Research Areas
The department’s research activities are focused on “Problems of World Literature” in comparative-historical and typological aspects, with particular attention to the specific features of Russian literature, the works of individual writers, and translations into Tajik.

Born on June 20, 1983 in Dushanbe (Tajik). Graduated from Tajik National University (Faculty of Russian Language and Literature) in 2007 as a philologist, teacher of Russian language and literature. Currently serves as Associate Professor and Head of the Department of World Literature. Author of books, a monograph, research articles, and methodological materials.

Born on July 30, 1962 in Dushanbe (Tajik). Graduated in 1984 from the Tajik State Institute of Languages named after S. Ulugzoda (now Tajik State University of Languages) with a degree in philology, teacher of Russian language and literature. Currently serves as Associate Professor at the Department of World Literature. Author of books, a monograph, research articles, and methodological materials.

Born on June 27, 1965 in Kanibadam (Uzbek). Graduated in 1990 from Tajik State University named after V.I. Lenin (now Tajik National University) with a degree in philology, teacher of Russian language and literature. Currently serves as Senior Lecturer at the Department of World Literature. Author of scholarly articles and methodological materials.

Biography:
Born on June 10, 1994 in Kulob (Tajik). Graduated in 2018 from the Russian-Tajik (Slavonic) University, Faculty of Russian Language and Literature, with a degree in philology, teacher of Russian language and literature. From 2018 to 2020, was a PhD doctoral student at the Department of World Literature. Currently serves as Assistant at the Department of World Literature. Author of books, research articles, and methodological materials.

Born on September 17, 2001, in Dushanbe (Tajik nationality). Holds a higher education degree. In 2019, entered Tajik National University (TNU), Faculty of Russian Philology, majoring in Philology, Teacher of Russian Language and Literature. In 2023, was admitted to the Master’s program. The first year of Master’s studies was completed at Ufa University of Science and Technology (Ufa, Republic of Bashkortostan) under the double degree program 1+1.
Currently, works as an Assistant at the Department of World Literature.
