History of the department’s creation
In 2007, following the formation of the Faculty of Russian Language and Literature, the Department of Russian Philology was transformed into the Department of Methods of Teaching Russian Language and Literature. From 2007 to 2009, the department was headed by Mukhbira Yakhyoyevna Ismailova, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, and from 2009 to 2022, by Gulchekhra Masaidovna Khodjimatova, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor. Since 2022, the department has been headed by Tutiniso Menguloyevna Abdulloeva, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor.
The history of the Department of Methods of Teaching Russian Language and Literature is closely linked to the history of the Faculty of Russian Philology. For a long time, the department (in Soviet times, it was called the “Department of Russian Language and Methods of Teaching”) was headed by Kumri Normatovna Sadykova, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences and Associate Professor. Such renowned methodologists as O. Sobchenko, V. Nenko, L. V. Ashmarina, M. N. Abdullaeva, V. S. Ushakovsky, E. Mustafina, and many others worked in the department.
Educational activities
The department of methods of teaching russian language and literature trains specialists in the following faculties at TNU: russian philology, journalism, Asian and European languages, tajik philology, philosophy, international relations, and history. Faculty members teach classes in the subjects “Russian Language” and “Methods of teaching russian language and literature.”

Educational and methodological activities
The department offers:
Continuing education courses for russian language teachers in secondary schools and universities across the republic. The main objective of these courses is to organize the teaching and methodological, research, organizational, educational, and research work of teachers, and to create conditions for studying the Russian language.
Scientific and Methodological Seminar (SMS). The SMS’s primary objective is to conduct scientific and methodological reviews of research and methodological manuscripts prepared for publication by department members. As part of the SMS, monthly lectures and presentations by faculty members on current issues in linguistic and pedagogical disciplines are heard and discussed. Speakers share their teaching experiences, discuss the most effective methods for organizing learning, and introduce colleagues to the latest methodological literature on the topic under discussion.
Student Scientific Society (SSS). SSS brings together students interested in contemporary Russian language issues. The members of the “SSS” hold themed evenings and publish wall newspapers and banners dedicated to significant dates. Students from the department’s experimental schools actively participate in these events. Associate Professor T.M. Abdulloeva supervises the teaching practice at these experimental schools.
The department maintains close ties with secondary schools in Tajikistan.
Members of the department conduct professional development courses for teachers at secondary schools in Dushanbe and universities in the Republic of Tajikistan.
The department has a Ph.D. program in Theory and Methods of Teaching and Education (Methods of Teaching Russian – Pedagogical Sciences). The following programs are taught:
Malikai Ravshanzoda – 3rd year of study;
2. Raufchonzoda Dilshod -2nd year of study.
Research Activities
The department is conducting research on the topic: “Linguodidactic Features of Teaching Russian to Tajik Audiences”
The department’s faculty review textbooks, monographs, dissertations, and teaching aids published not only in our country but also abroad.
The results of the scientific research work of the department’s teachers are the publication of monographs, textbooks, as well as scientific and methodological articles that help students in working on essays, reports, tests and creative works.

International cooperation
The Department of Methods of Teaching Russian Language and Literature collaborates and interacts with an extensive network of contacts with related universities, faculties, and research centers in the Russian Federation and other countries in Asia and Europe, including Moscow State Linguistic University, Minsk State Linguistic University, the A.S. Pushkin Russian Language Institute, and others. Faculty members are annually invited to and actively participate in international conferences both domestically and internationally.
Students also actively participate in university, national and international competitions and take honorable places.
