The Department of Translation and Intercultural Communication was established in 2017 on the basis of the Faculty of Russian Philology. By Order of the Rector of TNU dated February 21, 2017 No. 55-6, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor Khayem Ikromovich Teshaev (Ikromzoda Khayem Ikrom) was appointed acting head of the department. On 30.06.2018, a competition was held and he was appointed head of the department. Since 2023, on a competitive basis, since May 26, 2023, the department has been headed by Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor Mahtob Azizbekovna Garibova (until now).
The department trains students in the specialties (21050404) “theory and practice of translation”, (21050208) “foreign language (with language indication)”.
